The Citizen ID Forum will be part of ID WORLD Rio de Janeiro 2011, the inaugural Americas Summit on security, mobility and traceability - Wise Media’s first event in South America, taking place over two days in June.

Citizen ID Forum at the second ID WORLD Abu Dhabi EMEA Summit, April 3 - 4, 2011

The Citizen ID Forum will once again be part of the EMEA Summit on security, mobility and traceability, ID WORLD Abu Dhabi, being held under the patronage of UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H.H. Sheik Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan on April 3 to 4, 2011 and endorsed by the European Commission, the Emirates Identity Authority and Abu Dhabi Police (ID WORLD Abu Dhabi).

During the event, the Forum will focus on technologies and best practices for the government sector in areas including citizen ID projects, e-passports, border control, national and international security and the provision of citizen-centric services for e-government.

Citizen ID Forum highlights from ID WORLD 2009: Middle East strategies for global mobility

High profile keynotes from the Middle East spoke in Milan, Italy, at the eight ID WORLD International Congress on automatic identification, giving a strong focus on the region’s citizen ID sector and its current developments.

Contributing to the session, “In the Era of Global Mobility”, Dr. Ali al-Khouri, Acting Director General of the Emirates Identity Authority, highlighted the successful citizen and government ID projects being undertaken in the UAE, while Brig. Saleh Alkubaisi, Director of Information Systems Department, Qatar, outlined his country’s strategies for identifying citizens of and visitors to Qatar. Among other speakers who contributed to the outstanding success of the Milan event, which saw 2608 visitors, including 72 CEOs in attendance, were Dr. Khaled Almazroui, General Manager of Fujairah Airport and Naser Al Mazrouie, Chief Executive of ICT at the Emirates Identity Authority.

Wise Media’s Citizen ID Forum opened its doors in Abu Dhabi on February 15 under the patronage of UAE Minister of Interior H.H. Sheik Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The second edition of the two-day conference and exhibition in the Middle East proved to be an overwhelming success with 382 high-profile participants (+21% compared with 2008) – the highest attendance on record for any ID WORLD Forum since their launch in 2005. Outstanding success of the inaugural NFC Academy Conference hosted at the Citizen ID Forum 2009.

First Citizen ID Forum in Abu Dhabi:

The discussions that took place in Istanbul in 2007 continued again in Abu Dhabi on February 25-26, 2008.

The Citizen ID Forum opened its doors under the patronage of the Minister of Interior of the UAE, H.H. Sheik bin Zayed al Nahyan .

Outstanding Success of Citizen ID Forum
Istanbul, June 2007

The Electronic Passport Forum and Citizen ID Forum opened its doors in Istanbul on June 21st in the presence of Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security Murat Basesgioglu. Endorsed by the European Commission, the first edition of the event outside the EU proved to be a great success with 249 high-profile participants attending the 2-day conference and exhibition.

Murat Basesgioglu, Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security, opened the event by discussing the technology shift that the Turkish government has spearheaded since 2003, aimed at providing citizens with access to a variety of eGovernment services in the fields of customs, social security, education and justice. The Minister also announced the beginning of the electronic ID and social security card project in pilot areas as of July 2007.

The Electronic Passport Forum and Citizen ID Forum welcomed an array of world-class panelists to review the status of the progressive digitalization of Passports, as well as National IDs, Driver’s Licenses, Health Cards, Visas and Green Cards worldwide. These included representatives of Malaysian National Registration Department, the Belgian Ministry of the Interior, US Department of Homeland Security the Dutch Ministry of Justice, Frontex, the Estonian National Certification Authority the German BSI Federal Office for Information Security, the Polish Ministry of Interior, the Belgian FEDICT Public Federal Service, the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs, UK Border & Immigration Agency and the Italian Ministry of the Interior.
